Covid Precautions for Meetings

With the resumption of in-person meetings from November, the Committee has made some recommendations, to keep everyone as safe as possible and as a courtesy to other members.  The Committee will review them no later than the end of the year.  They are, of course, subject to any changes in Government advice.

Face-to-face Meetings Start in November

From the first meeting in November, which happens to be on the 1st of November, we will be resuming face-to-face meetings.  Please see our Programme for details of the individual talks and competitions that we have in store for you.

Due to there still being severe restrictions on number using the rooms in the Commuity Centre, we will be moving to a new temporary home.  From that date until the end of December, we will be meeting in St Mary's Church Rooms on Mountsorrel Lane.  You can find it about 50 yards down Mountsorrel Lane from its junction with Barrow Road.  The entrance is opposite the church; it's in what looks like an old Chapel or School building.

You should assume that you will not be able to park outside or anywhere near, so it is recommended that you make your way to the public car park behind Tesco.  The entrance is on King Street, on the right just before the railway bridge.

Please note the new start time of 7.30 for 7.45.

Exhibition 2021: Cancelled

Sileby Photographic Society’s Exhibition 2021, due to take place at the Sileby Community Centre across the weekend of 23 and 24 October, has been cancelled.

The Parish Council, which runs the Community Centre, has decided to continue to enforce limits on numbers of people able to use the rooms there, which were originally established in July 2020.  This makes the mounting of an Exhibition unworkable.

We were informed of this decision just four weeks before the Exhibition was due to start, leaving us no scope for making alternative arrangements.

Another New Season Starts

We welcome members, old and new, to our new season of meetings.  There is, as usual a varied programme for you to enjoy, with something to interest everyone.

Meetings in September and October will continue to be on Zoom and joining details will be sent out well in advance,  This enables us to welcome speakers and judges from parts of the country where distances would normally prohibit them from joining us.

From November, we intend to be meeting face-to-face in the Community Centre.

Members' Area on the SPS Web Site

We have instigated a new Members' Area on our Web site.  In it you will find information that is private to the Society and so you will need to know the username and password, details of which were sent out via the SPS mailing list.
