Annual Exhibition 2008
The club holds an Annual Exhibition of members' work. The 54th Annual Exhibition was held between 20th and 25th October 2008 in the Village Institute, Sileby (see here for directions).
The
over 200 prints and 130 slides and digital images on display continued our general improvement in standards year-by-year. Such is the diversity of interests from within the membership, that there
was something for everyone, whether it be a landscape or cityscape from a far off country, a studio portrait or a fast-action sports picture. There
was a particularly strong showing of natural history work this year, all of a very high standard.
Even though last year we saw more visitors that we have seen since
the heady days of the mid-1980s, we hope to beat the count of recorded 333 visitors through the door.
The unenviable task of judging this year’s Exhibition was kindly undertaken by
David Gibbins ARPS APAGB AFIAP BPE3*, and we would like to thank David for the time and effort he put in, to what is a very difficult job. The quality of the work this year will have made his job even more difficult.
Our Feature Slide Show this year
was entitled ‘Water Interlude’ and featured a selection of images on or
beside water. It will be retained in our library of Exhibition Slide Shows, which are shown to organisations around the Midlands and even further
afield. To find out about these shows and many others, including details of how to book a showing, click
here.
The images below show a small selection from the exhibition. On the Sunday before the Exhibition, members rally round to set up the panels and make the venue ready for our visitors. Once the Exhibition is under way, members and visitors alike can enjoy the work on display.
This Exhibition would not have been possible without the efforts of members of our Society and the support of the catalogue by our advertisers. Thanks go to all, but in particular we would like to thank our Exhibition Coordinator Bob Cornes , and Competition Secretaries Jackie Cornes and Gianpiero Ferrari. Thanks also go to Phil Walker, who badgered local businesses into parting with their money to sponsor our Exhibition.

If you didn’t manage to make it to this year's Exhibition, why not pop along to our Monday evening meetings? You are more than welcome, and who knows, you could be exhibiting your own pictures in next year’s show. You can find details of our programme by clicking here. |
